Rainy Day in Fairfield

Probably good for the grass and plants - if it breaks the humidity it will be worth it. Having my Granddaughter Isabella for her first overnight Saturday - she has inexhaustible energy which is why you have kids when you're younger. I'll be doing some supplemental napping today to prepare for a potential all nighter. I remember the days when I could do all nighters no problem - long ago!

Tuesday

Played some seriously bad golf this morning - sprayed shots all over the course. I've agreed to make a cameo appearance at the in-laws Sunday for Sharon's Nieces HS Graduation Party. These people have a party every weekend with the usual suspects - the booze expenditures must be astronomical! They think I'm 'stuck-up' because I don't get shit-faced with them. If they thought highly of me, I would think less of myself. I'm going because it makes my wife happy. Happy Wife=Happy Husband.

Want to ride...

Weather is threatening but I want to get out on my bike. Wish there were some local trails so you don't have to dodge cars - everybody is in a hurry - to where? Miles to go before I sleep.

Friday

Woke up looking bad - massive swelling had taken place and I looked like Elephant Man this morning. After a day of icing, I've improved to an upright Quasimodo Look. Pain is better, the heavy drugs should be done with.

Ouch!

Got two dental implants this morning - extremely popular and expensive way to keep your teeth as old dental work starts failing. I my case I had an 'accident' during the NYC Blackout of 1965, breaking several teeth among other injuries. The bridge that held what was left failed recently. So I have these implants set in my jawbone their like set screws - pretty big - along with a mouthful of stitches. Icky - had to take a vicodan - Sharon is doling my meds as usual. Hope to get on OTC tomorrow.

Jake's Back

My main man Jacob has returned from camp, he showed up new backpack, hat and sneakers with his skateboard, ate macaroni with gravy and we watched a movie - just like old times.

Great Dinner

Last night at the Meyzens Cold Melon Soup, Crabmeat Salad, Restaurant Bread and Strawberry Shortcake Cake with vanilla sauce and fresh blueberries - outstanding!
Late for golf this morning (had tee time wrong) no warm up - 3rd hole before I settled down - lost to a guy about 90 yrs. old - very humbling.
Rain today - no watering needed.

Cadaver Man

We had a wounded squirrel - looked like a hawk attack survivor - it disappeared before I could catch it and get it to our Audubon Society. Found it today wedged in the rocks of our water fountain. I estimate T.O.D. to be about 40 - 46 hours ago. Partial decomp, rigor, insect infestation, the works. Fell into the man-job category, it was bad but someone had to do it. Gave it a proper burial (the garbage man comes tomorrow.) All I can say is I'm glad I decided on cremation.

Stamford Today

Took my Mother to Advanced Radiology in Stamford this morning, remembering last time I brought her there, we went directly to the hospital. Today went smoothly and it is always nice to see her.
I think the Advair I am taking for my chest is making me crazy! I have to pee about every 10 minutes and it is screwing up my naps. Only have another 7 days on it and hopefully symptoms will vanish when I stop using it. I'm definitely not digging the physical phase I've been in this year.

First Ride Back

Loved being out in the air on a beautiful day, I've missed my daily rides. I revisited my accident area, the spot I hit can't even be considered a pothole - more of an indentation but the rocks in it peeled the tire off my rim and all hell broke loose. I was trying to figure out what if there was a lesson, I decided pedal baskets kept me from getting my feet out and maybe having some leg support, as it was I took the bike down still attached to my body and I think that increased the injuries. Other than that, it was just Ga's Zwill.

RBD Night

Had an RBD (REM Behavior Disorder) night last night. Physically acting out dream sequences, in my case usually punching. Sharon gets tipped off when the jimmy legs start going and when I start swinging she wakes me up. No contact thank God. I find late coffee is a precipitator - I like coffee with desert when were out. Can't do decaf - come on..... Need to cut it out or buy a helmet for Sharon.
Going out on my bike - first time since the crash 2 weeks ago.
Jake's home from Camp today - can't wait to see my guy.

Saturday

After a 7 am meeting and a issue solving session with my Sangha Sisters at the bagel shop, Sharon and I went to the Westport Art Festival and bought two photographs of Huangshan Mountain in China. We're very tight on space for anything else but these were spectacular.
We're off to Scribners for dinner.

Steamy Day

Feels like a humid July day today - we don't often have weather that aligns with the calendar anymore. I'm a big fan of AC. Sharon took the ride with me to Stamford making it a much better journey. Citi did reasonably well. I think the sellers of Google after results are shortsighted.

Stamford Today

Have to go to Stamford today for MD appointment - do not like the ride - did it over 15,000 times in 34+ years working there (I counted.) Citi reports today, hoping for mildly encouraging results.

Whole Foods Westport

Underwhelming - not worth the drive from Fairfield. Seems like a 'beautiful people spot.' Did see my friend Mike McGlynn who I see about once a year - always a pleasure.

Surprise

Sharon decided to go into work today rather than working from home which has become the norm. I would rather have her home and have gone into baby-mode to indicate my displeasure. She never buys it anyway. It's not like we interact all day, we are generally in different areas of the house but it's nice to have her around for lunch. The worst part is she always lets the work environment twist her up mentally and she will be fit to be tied when she arrives home. Do I sound 'Co?' I'm not really at all, I just want what I want in all situations at all times - that's OK right?

New Day

No new medical hiccups to deal with this morning, finally think the body and medication has got healing and protecting requirements down to a manageable level. Off to my meeting.
